จักรกริช สังขมณี เป็นรองศาสตราจารย์ด้านมานุษยวิทยา คณะรัฐศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ผลงานของเขามุ่งเน้นไปที่การศึกษาวิทยาศาสตร์ เทคโนโลยี และสังคม (STS) โดยเฉพาะโครงการวิศวกรรมอุทกวิทยาที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการสร้างรัฐของไทย โครงสร้างพื้นฐานด้านสิ่งแวดล้อม และการเมืองสิ่งแวดล้อม ปัจจุบัน จักรกริชเป็นหนึ่งในคณะกรรมการบรรณาธิการของวารสาร Engaging Science, Technology, and Society
